The Bloomsburg Public Library & The Columbia County Traveling Library

Oh, how we all would love for our kids to spend the summer with their noses in books! Did you know that just 15 minutes a day reading can make all the difference at any age?! Our local libraries go ABOVE & BEYOND during the summer months to make reading accessible and fun. We have the Bloomsburg Public Library & the Columbia County Traveling Library summarized for you below! We already ran a blog on the amazing BERWICK LIBRARY, and we have more libraries to come . Please reach out with any questions, or if you are aware of other resources that we can share in our Summer Registration series.

Tips for library reading

Get a bag or basket that is JUST for library books. When the kids aren’t reading the books, they go in the bag or basket (they are a million cute baskets at Marshalls!) This GREATLY helps when it is time for library book returns.

Tips for library reading

If your children are in 1st or 2nd grade (or any age really), graphic novels are terrific choices. Maybe they just look at the pictures, but chances are they will try to read at least some of the pages. And, they are so much fun. Some of our favorites: The Hilo Series, Cat Kid Comic Club, Dog Man Series and the Babysitter’s Club Graphic novels. Also, if you loved a book growing up, chances are someone has made it into a graphic novel! Examples are: The Wizard of Oz, Charlotte’s Web, Anne of Green Gables, and more!

Columbia County Traveling Library

Did you know that the Traveling Library has a new Youth Services Librarian this year, Amanda Noblait ( [email protected])?! She has been busy creating a summer learning program and will be hosting preschool story times.
